This is a drupal question asked by crooke on 05 June 2009

I would say I’m on an intermediate level in drupal, I’ve built a number of sites (about 12) and wrote some custom modules as well, I just wanted to start with this to make it clear. I’m a bit stuck with one of the sites I’m working on right now and would like to ask an expert or anyone who’s got some ideas. Basically, I need to develop a competition site in drupal 6. Users of a role are able to create competitions which they will be the administrators of. This means that they will be able to determine how many rounds the competition will have, how long each round will last and what content types they require in each round. Contestants need to join the competition to be able to submit content to it (so far I’m thinking about OG). Each submitted content will be reviewed and rated by the competition author. The tricky part is that the competition author needs to be able to close a round, which means users won’t be able to submit any new content to that particular round and open the next one. Technically, there will always be one active round and the switching would be ideally automatic (based on date values) or if not then straightforward to the competition author. Also, contestants need to be notified when a round is closed / opened.
